Frequently Asked Questions

A balisong trainer, also known as a practice butterfly knife, is a non-sharpened version of a balisong knife. It is designed to allow users to safely practice and master flipping techniques and tricks without the risk of injury that comes with a sharpened blade.

Balisong trainers are made with the same weight and balance as a real balisong knife, but they are typically made with a blunt blade or a replaceable blade made of plastic or other non-sharp materials. Balisong trainers are popular among both beginners and experienced flippers looking to hone their skills and practice in public.

Finding the right balisong trainer for you depends on several factors, such as your skill level, budget, and personal preferences. Consider the weight and size of the trainer, as well as the type of handle material, such as titanium, aluminum, or steel, and the blade material, such as plastic or metal.

Beginners may want to start with a lighter and more affordable trainer, while more experienced flippers may prefer a heavier, more durable trainer. As you flip and develop your own preferences,  you will get a better feel for what’s most comfortable and suits your flipping style.

The safe handle and the bite handle on a balisong trainer can vary depending on the specific model of the trainer. However, in most cases, the safe handle will be the handle that is opposite to the blade when it is closed, while the bite handle will be the handle that is closest to the blade.

To determine which handle is the safe handle, look for the handle that does not have the sharp edge of the blade visible when the knife is closed. This handle is often larger and more rounded to provide a comfortable grip during flipping. The bite handle, on the other hand, typically has a smaller profile and may have cutouts or other features to provide better control during tricks.
